Graffiti is art too!

Haight Street, San Francicso
Side of a medical building

Graffiti is a very common form of artwork in a lot of cities. Some people think that it is a very rude thing to destroy property. Some people love the fact that other people have the amazing art talent and love seeing their work all over the streets. The biggest controversy of it is that it is illegal. Obviously graffiti artists, even though they know it is illegal, are going to paint it anyways. The artists get a thrill and adrenaline rush if they know they could possibly get caught in the act of painting on the sides of buildings and on the sides of old broken down cars. Even though it is illegal, the people that actually appreciate the graffiti sometimes hire artists to add artwork to their place of business or art studio. A lot of times you will also see graffiti in movies. This in a way could possibly show kids that it really isn’t that big of a deal to graffiti. Really the only time it is illegal is when you trespass or vandalize. In San Francisco, all you have to do to see graffiti is walk onto the city bus and loom up. Because of kids painting all over public buses or putting inappropriate thongs is why it is illegal. But really that’s what graffiti is about, writing the groups names and symbols all over the place so everyone knows who they are. Sometimes it’s going to have a bad word or inappropriate picture but it is what it is. That’s also why some people don’t appreciate the artistic-ness.

Is Cheerleading Really a Sport?

Cheerleading is a different kind of sport. There is no off-season and on top of supporting teams, cheerleaders support each other.  Cheerleading isn’t just about standing there and looking pretty, and being loud with a smile on your face.  There is school cheerleading which is there to support the teams and keep the fans all riled up and supporting the teams then there is competition cheerleading. The competition teams are much more involved and are more about impressing the judges. There is a lot of debate about whether or not cheerleading for schools doesn’t mean anything and that it’s stupid. People think that if you cheer for a national team that’s what cheerleading really is all about.  Either way. If you cheer for a school team or are on a competition team, both require a huge amount of work. It’s not about just standing there screaming cheers. There is tumbling involved and jumping and hitting the right motions, and making sure that everything is together. It’s not easy to look the best you can be and impress the fans to make them spirited!
Imagine a basketball game without cheerleaders. Of course the game wouldn’t be dead silent but the gym definitely would be a lot more quiet! Yes the fans would still clap and cheer but during time outs but they just sit there. They cheerleaders goal is to keep them involved and into the game. Winning or loosing cheerleaders always have high spirits. Cheerleading should be considered a sport even though it’s not a main, popular sport. There is just as much hard work done as in basketball or football.

My Life

My name is Kayla Hosier and i'm going to tell you about myself. I have two younger brothers, Conner, 15 and Cameron, 11. My family is solely crazy. Our lives are all very hectic and busy. Along with the 5 people in my family we have 3 dogs, Trout, Sylar, and Pluto, 4 cats, Snapper, Trooper, Maxwell, and Cleo, a bird named Tweety, and a snake named Daisey. The animals alone contribute to our busy life. My mom and I both work at Avon Lake Animal Clinic, and my brother has a job now too at the YMCA. Mind you with all of this, we only have 3 drivers in the family and 4 who work... Being in high school and being involved in 2 sports and having a job has been very difficult. Thankfully i have great friends to help me out with anything and everything I need. My brothers and I have somewhat a lot in common. We all hunt and lob=ve to be outdoors. Even though we are alike we are also very different. My mom always knows what to say to me and how to help me in any situation. She is the one who basically helps me through life.
